Information about the 2026 election

In 2026, there will be elections in Sweden. You can vote for who will decide in the country, region, and municipality.
When is the election?
The election takes place on Sunday, 13 September 2026.
Who can vote?
You can vote if you:
- are 18 years old on election day
- are a Swedish citizen (for national elections)
- are registered in Sweden
You may also vote in municipal and regional elections if you:
- are a citizen of an EU country, Iceland, or Norway, or
- have lived in Sweden for at least three years
How to vote
You can vote in different ways:
- On election day at a polling station
- Advance voting (before election day)
- By post (if you are abroad)
You will receive a voting card by mail before the election. It tells you where to vote.
Advance voting: 26 August–13 September
You can vote in advance from 26 August until election day. You may vote at any advance voting location in Sweden, not only in the municipality where you live.
Järfälla provides designated venues for advance voting. Your poll card shows the venues closest to you and their opening hours. The venus will also be presented on this page when available.
When voting in advance, you must bring valid identification and preferably your poll card. If you do not have your poll card, election officials can assist you on site.
Where to vote
You can vote at a polling station in your area.
You can also vote early at special locations.
Bring ID
You need to bring a valid ID when you vote.
