Building Permits

A building permit is required in Järfälla if you plan to construct, extend, alter or demolish a building. The Building Permit Office in Järfälla is responsible for processing all permit applications.

A building permit is normally required if you plan to build a new house, make an extension, change the use of a building or make significant changes to its exterior. Minor alterations may instead require a building notification.

Permits and notifications can also be required for the construction of walls or significant alterations of the ground.

Apply digitally

Applications and notifications are handled by the Building Permit Office. All building permit applications are submitted through our digital online service. You will be asked to provide documents such as site plans, drawings and a description of the work. If you have any questions feel free to contact the municipality for guidance.

The processing time depends on the complexity of the project and whether the application is complete. Fees are charged according to the municipality’s official fee ordinance.
